A Tour Down Under to Tasmania
Introduction to Tasmania:
Separated from mainland Australia by the 240 km stretch of Bass Strait, Tasmania is a land apart a place of wild and beautiful landscapes; friendly, welcoming people; a pleasant, temperate climate; wonderful wine and food; a rich history; and a relaxed island lifestyle.
Tasmania is encircled by the Southern Ocean, Tasman Sea and Bass Strait. They breathe the world’s cleanest air and rejoice in pure water and fertile soils our wine and food are acclaimed around the world.
Tasmania is a natural island a land of dramatic coastlines, rugged mountains, tall forests and sparkling highland lakes. Over a third of the state is reserved in a network of National Parks and the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, a refuge and habitat for rare plants and animals, including survivors of the ancient southern super continent, Gondwana.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Melbourne
1. Meet arrival at Melbourne airport.
2. Continue for a full day city tour. Visit St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parliament House, Federation Square, Treasury House, Fitzroy Park and Yarra River.
3. Enjoy yum cha lunch.
4. Visit Nobbie Centre. Overlooking the wild waters of Bass Strait, Nobbie Centre showcases Australian fur seals and the marine life in the Southern Oceans.
5. Phillip Island Nature Parks. View Penguin Parade. See the world’s smallest penguin in its natural habitat from viewing stands. Witness the little Penguins waddle up the beach to the safety of their homes in the sand dunes.
6. Enjoy Chinese banquet dinner at Phillip Island.
Day 2: Melbourne
1. Transfer group to Ballarat.
2. Stop by Bacchus Marsh for a brief tour.
3. Enjoy Chinese lunch.
4. Visit Sovereign Hill includes Mine tour. Sovereign Hill is a goldfields town set on 25 acres of an original mining site.
5. Enjoy 3 course Italian dinner.
Day Three: Launceston
1. Meet arrival at Launceston airport.
2. Transfer group to local Launceston restaurant for 2 course lunch.
3. After lunch, transfer group to Cataract Gorge for the Basin Chairlift. Groups are able to enjoy a scenic view of Launceston.
4. Transfer group to local Launceston restaurant for Chinese banquet dinner.
Day Four: Launceston
1. Pick up group from hotel
2. Visit Cradle Mountains and Dove Lake. Cradle Mountain is a mountain in the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, Tasmania, Australia. Rising to 1,545 metres (5,069 ft) above sea level, it is one of the principal tourist sites in Tasmania, owing to its natural beauty. The Cradle Mountain is composed of dolerite columns, similar to many of the other mountains in the area.
3. Enjoy 2 course lunch at Cradle Mountain.
4. After lunch visit Mole Creek Caves for the Marakoopa 30 minute guided cave tour.
5. Transfer group to local Launceston restaurant for Chinese banquet dinner.
Day Five: Hobart
1. Pick up group from hotel
2. Visit Wineglass Bay Lighthouse at Freycinet National Park. Freycinet is a national park on the east coast of Tasmania, Australia, 125 km northeast of Hobart. It occupies a large part of the Freycinet Peninsula, named after French navigator Louis de Freycinet, and Schouten Island.
3. Enjoy 2 course lunch at Freycinet Lodge.
4. After lunch visit Sorell Fruit Farm. Pick your own fruits. Fruits can be picked from late October until late May. December and January (cherries, strawberries, loganberries, tayberries, silvanberries, boysenberries, blackcurrants (Jan) and apricots (Jan).
5. Enjoy hotel buffet dinner.
